After China, India’s dominance in the
sphere of the textile sector is admirable. The textile industry is growing in
the country at an exponential rate offering endless opportunities. After
agriculture, the textile and garment sector of India is the second largest
employer. According to estimation 50 million people directly and around 70
million people are indirectly engaged in the textile and garment sector for
livelihood. In the present scenario, the sector is contributing around 5% of the
national GDP. And the market is expected to cross the staggering figure of US$
223 billion by the year 2021.
